Blue Light. What's the big deal?

Blue light is a type of high energy visible light. The sun emits blue light during the day, which inhibits melatonin release, keeping you awake. Neat, huh?

But because we live in the digital age, we are exposed on average to an extra 9 hours of blue light from smart phones, tablets, computer screens and televisions. Woah! Your poor little peepers. Not to mention the fact that melatonin is restricted, keeping you awake at night time.

So how does Blue Light actually affect us? Get ready - it's nasty. Blue Light exposure has been shown to penetrate all the way to the retina (the inner lining of the back of the eye). Laboratory studies have shown that too much exposure to blue light can damage light-sensitive cells in the retina.
Blue light over exposure also causes a lack of focus, headaches, dry eyes, vertigo, eye strain and blurred vision.

June Fox Eyewear has been developed with a special coated lens called a CR39 lens. Our lenses block out up to 40% of harmful blue light, and they look darn good!

Our hand made ultra lightweight acetate frames are so light you won't even know you've got them on. The lenses are hydrophilic, anti-scratch and anti-static.

So go on, frame your world with June Fox Eyewear. Your eyes will thank you for it.
